Avant-garde from the Stava family collection

The exhibition Avant-garde Art from the Stava Family Collection, for the first time, showcases a selection of over 120 works by about 40 artists at the family’s Bechyně Castle. It reflects a personal selection, highlighting a number of artists, especially from the postwar period in Europe when art reached the height of its personal diversity. The show is framed by art historical information to explain the context and endeavours of the 20th century avant-garde represented in the collection. The viewer will discover how the artists have stepby-step gained freedom of expression, freeing art from conventions ever more, each in their personal way. Yet, the exhibition is by no means meant to be a museal or educative all-encompassing overview but a glance into the personal world of a private collector with a passion for avant-garde art.

The exhibition is open until 29. 9. 2024.
